From Perros-Guirec to Trebeurden
The Côte de Granit Rose is a stretch of coastline of about ten kilometers facing the English Channel in northern Brittany, from Perros-Guirec to Trébeurden. Here is the official geographical definition of this corner of paradise. For my part, I can't help mentioning Plougrescant beach located a few kilometers east of Perros-Guirec...I already find this place magnificent and surprising. Let's start our trip where photos and change of scenery will be there.
A small map that will allow you to locate yourself, Plougrescant to the East and the Pink Granite Coast to the West of the map between Perros-Guirec and Trébeurden. So why this name of pink granite? simply because huge blocks of granite litter the beaches. Without going into the geological explanation of these formations, their colors are due to the iron oxide contained in these blocks. Erosion did the rest by sculpting these mineral masses into works of natural art. At sunset, you can admire the warm tones of these bizarre shapes ranging from red to brown where the children and "big children" that we are can imagine seeing whales, turtles, hippopotamuses and who knows what else! !
You have 2 possibilities to visit the Côte de Granit Rose...Either by road following the D788 and approaching the coast by small municipal roads or by following the GR34 also called "customs footpath", you will need count 45kms in 2 days... And yes, there are some meanders. (the GR34 being done on foot of course) FYI the GR34 is more than 2000kms and starts from Mont Saint Michel to finish in St Nazaire.
Now let's talk about the emblematic places crossed First of all Plougrescant...yes I know, we are a little outside the geographical area...But this place is magical, I have already told you... You will find there fine sandy beaches but also pink granite rocks to whet your appetite for the rest of the trip.
We start our journey in Perros-Guirec. Who has never heard of Perros-Guirec??...Seaside town par excellence, you will find hotels, cinema, casino, enough to delight the many tourists in summer. You can also relax on the 2 beautiful beaches of the city, Trestraou near the center and Trestrignel a few hundred meters further east. You can also visit the "7 islands" by boat and get closer to the seabirds that inhabit them.
Let's continue our journey via Ploumanac'h a stone's throw from Perros-Guirec. A small Breton port, a pretty mill and 2 beautiful beaches (Bastille and St Guirec) await you...This small town is typically what you are looking for when you visit this region...Beach, rocks, houses with stone walls. stone, and its lighthouse.
The journey continues through the village of Tregastel A paradise for vacationers who love lazing by the sea! You will find a dozen beaches in the town, each as beautiful as the next. You can even admire the pink granite rocks that border these beaches. Go to the tourist office and ask for the location map of the most beautiful rocks. You will discover the rocks called "painter's palette", "death's head", "pile of crepe"... What to do beautiful walks.
Let's go south and stop to visit "Ile Grande" in the town of Pleumeur-Bodou. Nearly quiet, which will allow you to visit its church from the beginning of the 20th century, its fountain where the bride and groom met to throw a piece of bread in order to be sure that their marriage will be happy, and then its castle which you can glimpse through a row of trees. For the bravest, a piece of advice do not hesitate to walk around (7kms), you will come across pretty rocks
Here we are at the end of our journey, Trébeurden is reaching out to us. There is something for every taste. Tresmeur beach for relaxation, a short walk on the rocks for the quieter on Pors-Termen beach, or end this incredible journey across this coast by the island of Milliau accessible on foot by a tidal gois low
I hope I have made you want to make this trip along this coast...There are still plenty of things to say about it, but I'll let you discover them on the spot. Good travel and good photos to all
